Big Brain is made by Samuel Cole, who is the data controller for this app. You can contact me at sixbeforenineapp@gmail.com.
The short version
There are no accounts. Your progress stays on your device, and I never receive it. If the app shows ads, Google's advertising software collects some device data to serve them. Buying Remove Ads stops that software from running.
What stays on your device
Your level progress, IQ score, sound and haptics settings, how recently you saw an ad, and whether you bought Remove Ads are saved on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them, and so does Reset progress for your progress.
Some levels use motion sensors, compass direction, the proximity sensor, volume, screen brightness, light or dark mode, charging state, whether you're online, or the fact that a screenshot was taken. These are read on your device while you play and are never sent anywhere. The app doesn't use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or GPS.
Advertising
If you haven't bought Remove Ads, the app uses Google AdMob to show rewarded and between-level ads. The app asks Google for non-personalised, family-friendly ads, and it doesn't ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps.
To deliver, limit and measure those ads, Google's software may collect:
- a device identifier that is specific to this app or developer
- approximate location, based on your IP address
- information about the ads you've seen and how you interact with the app and ads
- app performance data, such as launch time and hang rate
- crash and diagnostic logs
Google handles this data under its own terms. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from partner apps.
Your choices in the UK and EEA
If you're in the UK or EEA, you'll see a consent form from Google before any ads are requested. That form is written by Google and also covers its advertising partners. You can decline, and you can change your choice at any time from the gear on the home screen, under Ad privacy. If you decline, the game may show fewer ads or none, and hints stay available where an ad can't be shown.
Where data protection law gives me a legal basis, it is your consent, as recorded by that form. You can also ask me about your rights, including access and deletion, and you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Because I don't receive or hold data about you, requests about advertising data are best made to Google.
Purchases
Remove Ads is bought through Apple. I never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase is valid.
Children
Big Brain is a general audience game and isn't directed specifically at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
